Practical checks

Review projection direction, deep cavities, cosmetic surfaces and draft angle first. Straight pull structures usually reduce cost and maintenance risk.

Engineering review

Venting removes air and gases from the cavity, reducing burn marks, short shots, weak weld lines and local high pressure.

Discussion

Deep narrow cavities, sharp corners and polishing blind areas increase machining difficulty. Wear areas should be replaceable inserts when possible.
